Back on the bike.
Just got done thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. Summited Katahdin on Friday August 4th and was back home on sunday. First thing I did was take my bike out for a nice long ride. No plans on getting a car and have already started commuting back to work. Feels great, especially since I lost 58 pounds. Just thought I would let you all know I'm back and that I'll be lurking around the forums again.

congrats! You lose all that weight on the hiking trip? How long did it take you to hike the Trail?

Congrats on the thru-hike. I hope to do one someday, when I can afford the time to put aside. I've sectioned quite a bit of the AT, and it's beautiful.
I'll bet it feels good to be back on the bike after nothing but walking for almost half a year.

I started my hike on March 3rd and finished August 4th. The length of the trail changes every year with reroutes and what nots. This year the length was 2,174.4 miles. Being back on the bike does feel real good. I have a trail journal on another site, although it's not updated yet. Here is the link.
