My first commute

My first commute
I started commuting to class today, a distance of 7 miles. I usually don't eat breakfast, but I decided I would need the energy, so I did. I started a little after 7am and traffic was a nightmare...if you're in a car!
The beginning of the trip is along a busy road with a wide shoulder. After that, the next mile is a 2way street that's completely congested in the mornings. The majority of the route is through a subdivision. I took a few wrong turns, but ended up at the university on time.
Now, I would say that the trip went fairly well, aside from the wrong turns. I felt much better, having exercised so early. I was wide awake for my first class, when I'm usually walking around in a fugue.
The worst thing that happened was that I kind of threw up, having just drank two glasses of orange juice and battled up a decent grade, inhaling fumes coming from the highway. I didn't ride back, because it started raining during my first class, so I just strapped the bike to the front of a bus.

If your not a morning person, much like myself, the first part of the ride is the worst! But lucky me has no hills to climb.
Now go get some fenders and rain gear and attack the streets in the rain!!

The trip today was great. One direction is 7.5 miles. It took me 32 minutes to do it. I got honked at today, then passed a sign with a picture of a bicycle on it that says "share the road." I pointed it out to the ******* behind me, who honked.

I've only been doing this for two weeks myself, but it's great so far.
