I still get high!
I rode my bike to work for the first time just over 3 years ago. The one thing I remember about that first day of riding to work is the endorphin high that I got. The first day of commuting it lasted for about 10 minutes. I just rode my bike back to work from lunch, and I got my endorphin rush. It didn't last but maybe 3 or 4 minutes, but it's still a good high!

Yeah but (as any addict can tell you) pretty soon you'll develop a tolerance and it won't be enough. A casual 5 mile commute turns into a 10 mile detour turns into a 20 mile hammer. Pretty soon you're riding centuries and sneaking out on your spouse for "just one more" spin around the block!
Maybe we need a 12-step program: "Hi, my name is Caloso and I'm a cyclist." "Hi, Caloso!"

As an aside, why is everything someone addicted to referred as oholoic and not just ic?
Lets analyze: Alcohol-ic
Cycleic
Just a wierd little pet peeve of the english language for me.
And yes, I keep trying to find more miles. I am hopeless.

Being and addict myself (na stands for Narcotics Anonymous, a 12 Step fellowship) I have found no limit to my need for distance. It seems I've maxed out though with my century rides, I just can't do that much further. Although I got in a 35mile ride this weekend and got a good buzz.

What are all these endorphin highs that everybody talks about. Sounds like fun.... What do you have to do, work so hard that you get dizzy?

Spire, it's like this. Riding along everything just seems "right". You look up, soak in the scenery and realize how lucky you are to be alive.

Yeah, I'm addicted too. I told myself to take it easy on the ride home yesterday because I needed lots of energy to wash the car and wrench on my bikes. That lasted for about 1/4 mile and then I was hammering again. Felt so good that it didn't tire me as much as usual.
