Commuters in NYC

Ive worked at three different office buildings in the past 3 years and not one would let me bring my bike into the building so I could stash it in my office. I always got permission from our office manager, but the problem was getting from the lobby door to the elevator.

Im not about to keep my bike locked up on the street. It didnt cost much compared to other bikes, but I saved up for a long time for it.

Has anyone had any luck changing the mind of the building manager?

Are there any bike storage places in downtown manhattan, specifically near broadway and church?

Thanks,

Lawrence

I have bad news for you. Under no circumstances should you park a brand new bike in New York City. If you saved up a long time for it, keep it home where it's safe. New York City is the Bike Crime Capital of the U.S. You will not see ANY new bicycles left on the street. I only park my junk bike on the street and hope it's there when I return.

The reason managers don't want your bike is due to the fact the building's insurance policy will not cover the loss of your cycle. The manager puts his job at risk should you discover your cycle stolen.

Transportation alternatives puts out a listing but I don't know the reliability of this listing.

Do yourself a favor. Get a $40.00 three speed to commute in Manhattan.
