The local paper the Waterbury Republican did an article on Bike commuters. I thought I would share to those who are interested.

"Dave Perugini, owner of Bike Rack Inc. in Waterbury, said the pedal commuting craze has yet to take hold in a city known for steep hills."
"I hear about it very rarely," Perugini said. "There's one or two guys I know of that do it ... that's about all."
That must be Al and I. (Al works at the LBS)
It has been nice reading about everybody's commute to know that I am not alone.
Thanks to all
Enjoy and Peace

Hats off to you CT riders, especially those in the central/western part of the state. I did a self-supported tour through there many years ago and that was brutal. Endless hills all day long. I don't think we covered more than 60 miles/day through that state. I can't remember any flat parts...

The last sentence of the article sums up the problem very nicely. As long as land use policies in Connecticut and the rest of the US encourage suburban sprawl and long commutes, we will be an auto dependent society with all the problems that auto dependency brings with it.
Excellent article, thanks for posting the link.

I used to live in Waterbury. What machine gun mount do you use?
Seriously though: very cool. There was a solid base of dedicated cyclists in CT when I left (a decade ago), so it's good to hear that you all are still there and getting others on board.
