Maybe tomorrow.

The late, great Irish motorcycle racer Barry "Bozza" Sheene used to have a hole drilled into the chinbar of his racing helmet at the start of every season so that he could smoke while waiting on the starting grid. The flag warning came, and he's pass the cig to whatever umbrella girl was hovering over him. During one year's Isle of Man TT race against one tough young opponent (I think it was Mick Doohan) Bozza kept his smoke. The flag dropped, and he didn't pull his *** out of his helmet until he was setting up for Turn 1, already going a buck-twenty or so. The phychological effect was said to be astounding.

Shiat, I wish I was as skinny as that dude...or Lemond! But check out that package, am I a stud or what!

Edit...don't it look like the guy on the right is lighting while the guy two lefts down is smacking the other dude on the back to help him smoke?

Sorry, just had to bump this thread. Has this guy turned up again or has winter's arrival scared him away?

buzzman 01-18-07 11:11 PM

there was a guy years ago who used to race in New England quite successfully who smoked while he rode but the strangest thing was watching him tug the thing from his lips with his prosthetic left arm.

I ain't seen hide nor hair of him. Good thing, he could have walked his bike faster than I was going on my SS with the studded tires the last couple days.

I had an interesting experience last evening. I saw this headlight catching me as I was riding a 17mph tempo home. He chased me for about 2 miles, he caught me and then exploded as I continued my easy 17 mph tempo. Gotta laugh.

Hey don't laugh...at least he didn't brag first. I often target people ahead of me to overtake, as a personal motivator, but I have no illusion that I am somehow outriding them, when they are just doing their own thing.

I think perhaps there is a difference between what is a hill in Kansas and what is a hill in Ohio. :D

Chipcom :D . Good feeling isn;t it. Years back Paul Solon, of Tiburon, California who had just finished the RAAM in under 9 days was touring through Texas when he met a neatly togged racing team. He asked to ride with them and they gave a rude "NO, we are Racers and you would just interfere". He smiled and said something like, "I'll race you to the next town". He dialed it up to 600 watts or so and took off. No matter how they worked the team could not catch him.

I've done it before, back when I had only just started mountain biking, at the time my legs had less endurance than my lungs.

Was on a sponsored bike ride with everyone grinding up a certain hill, got to a point where I couldn't ride anymore but was able to chuck the bike over my shoulder and jog faster than everyone riding.

I just find riding and walking/jogging use a different set of muscles.

From what I understand, Ohio is high in the middle and round at both ends.
