In all that time I've never thrown up or had to walk the bike. The Bicycle Tour of Colorado typically attracts 1200-1500 cyclists, many of whom come from lower elevations. If you're in shape, and stay hydrated, it's not that difficult to get up and over the Rockies. Perhaps your issues with climbing at elevation are more due to your smoking than you realize (or care to admit). |

My issues? Twasn't me doing the walking that you seem to think never happens. Oh that's right, he was a figment of my imagination. Let us know when you want to pay a visit to the real world where everyone isn't a cycling god. |
Chipcom - It's a lost fight waging battle against someone who refuses to acknowledge the possibility that a contrary viewpoint might have a shred of truth to it.
You're wasting your time with this argument; no one is going to gain anything from it. |

(Is this where I'm supposed to dial it up to 400 watts?). Yes, I admit it, I wanted to make him hurt...and he did, he blew up and ended up walking the bike up the last 100 feet or so. ;) |
So if I take up smoking that will make me a better cyclist? (Kidding:p ) This thread was initally very entertaining but as is often the case here on BF someone with an opposing POV will not let something they don't agree with go. Oh well, it is still more entertaining than work!

... Yes folks, by the time he got there, I was once again up on the porch, waving to him as I had a smoke. He waved back this time. I think I might have a riding partner for the morning commute for awhile....should I charge a coaching fee? ;) This dude is way too competitive. Yea, for people like that, I ride their wheel, till they're just about to blow up..then I blast past them and ensure that they don't catch up. |

Supposed to rain tomorrow and turn to snow by next week, so I doubt he'll be out for his 'training' ride again until the weather breaks again, which could be like May! |

Oh man, I thought you were going to fire up a smoke during the climb. I'm picturing you "coaching" him on the climb through a cigarette dangling in your mouth. Maybe tomorrow. |

My only disappointment is that it sounds like you had one empty hand in which there should have been a

Yeah, have a smoke dangling from your lip. Then while he's trudging up the hill, give him a push and say, "Atta boy."
He'd part out his bike that night and take up knitting. |
