I got into a heated discussion about the finer points of traffic law this morning

Map
Some highlights from the JAM:
- I was going 40mph.
- Bicycles must have license plates.
- Right of way only applies in intersections. (ie, if he can make it to the far side of the intersection before I hit him, it becomes all my fault)
Good luck out there.

Sounds like you need to apologize to him. 40 is not a safe speed for biking, and no plates?
I also like the attempt at detail for the hat.
You come out of it unscathed, or did you end up running into him?

You were travelling way too fast. Slow down and live longer. And make sure you update your bike's registration and put the new sticker on the license plates. Were you riding vehicularly w/ 1.2 GigaWatts of front, side and rear lighting?

Ah, of course, the Ol' ignore proper right of way, then panic and slam on the breaks directly after it would have helped, but is instead now the worst thing you could do routine, if I had a nickel for every time that happened....
Glad to hear that you, and from the sound of it your ride, didn't sustain any damage.

You should learn how to control a high wheelie. So when he stops you can get your frontwheel through his window...

It's happened to me more than once that a JAM (and thank you for the lovely new alternative to the worn-out "cager"), will cut me off and then brake. WTF?

the damned thing about this whole situation is that he still thinks he's right and you're wrong. he's probably at work or home complaining about you. there is absolutely nothing you could do or say that would change his mind. not even if you had the wisconsin traffic code with you. i try to keep this in mind when i find myself getting into an argument with someone who is angry.

Get a Downhill MTB. The MTB is so strong that when it touches something- it makes a right mess of it.
