front rack on jamis nova

I am thinking of putting a front rack on my nova to spread out the load. I'm not planning on loading them down with a lot of wt but I figure it's better than a handlbar bag. My nova has a carbon fork, does that make a difference? Will they affect the handling much? I saw some transit ones on the performance site, it seems like they atttach to the eyelets then something goes around the fork. I also have fenders but managed to squeeze the fender brace and rack brace on my rear eyelets, I had to use longer screws, which I no longer have.

Like I said, I'm not planning on loading them down but I want the option of spreading out my load on my bike, I could put my tools and tire stuff in the front panniers (which I would make myself and would make them relativly small) and other items in my rear panniers.
