My Commute with Pics
Here's a series of pictures I took today to show the route I take to and from work. I normally ride this route in the dark on the way to work and in the afternoon heat on the way home.
The picture below is the view up the hill from my driveway. Nothing like starting out the day with a hill

After a series of lefts and rights I'm on Arrowhead trail. This road is a series of rolling hills. It's great because I gain enough speed on the downhills to make it up the uphill portions with ease.

His is my love/hate section of the ride. I love it in the morning because I routinely hit 35 mph coasting down this hill. I hate it in the afternoon when I have to climb it at speeds < 10 mph.

After my fast downhill things level out for about a mile or so. I ride through a neighborhood that has newly paved roads. I love this part of the ride.

Although you can't really tell from this picture this road leads up to a nasty little climb to the top of the steet. I'm huffing an puffing by the time I reach the top of it.

The next two pictures show the only tricky part of the ride. I have to cross one of the major roads here in town. This picture shows the intersection.

This is what I have to cross. Normally I'm able to find a big enough break in traffic to get across.

At the bottom of this decline is a set of railroad tracks. So far I've been lucky enough to not get caught by a train.

Finally, this is the parking spot where I no longer park a car
My ride is 6.3 miles and my best time so far is a couple of ticks under 26 minutes.
I hope you enjoyed the virtual ride.

Nice pictures Zack and nice commute. No real traffic like here in Atlanta.
Kinda reminds me of what it was like many years ago at my grandmother's house in Macon.

Zack,
Great pics. I actually commuted today, no kids to transport, soccer is over, etc. It was great. I have a beautiful commute of only 10 miles each way. I'm too lazy to send pictures but I know what you mean about starting out on a hill. My neighborhood is on a small mountain and you have to climb out. I should be able to commute three days of the week. I'm looking forward to it.
