Do I need a rear fender if I have a rack?

If you haven't already bought fenders, check how much clearance you have between tire and rack. I bought road fenders for my hybrid, and the rear fender doesn't fit under my rack. Part of the problem is that the fenders are too narrow for 700x35s, but the rear fender actually rises higher than the rack platform.
Also, don't get fenders that are too long if you have to stand your bike up. The light rail around here has vertical bike racks and I can barely stand my bike vertically with full Freddy fenders.
They're awesome to ride in, though. Zero worries about puddles and snow dirtying up the rest of the bike.
