If you want a super bright light hold a white water bottle high over the front of the headlight and aim the blinding beam down at the computer, it's close to daylight. With a bright headlight a plain hand works OK. Any light colored water bottle will work. With a white bottle, not only can you see the computer, you can check the rear cogs for chain position or anything else. You can light up the whole bike. It's beautiful. A black glove only reflects enough light to see the computer with the brightest lights of all. If you get a flat, lie your bike on it's side aimed at a white bottle for a nice camping lantern.
What if you use a clear water bottle?

I used to just use my hand to reflect enough light, but I've since started mounting my headlights on an accessory bar (the moustache bars don't give a lot of options) so now my lights are too far forward and down to be of use in that manner.

Edit: Oh, and I use the helmet mounted Frog for digging around in my bag, if needed.

Now I have to go outside in the cold and try a clear bottle!

Another white light is always good to have. It is incredibly handy to have it on your helmet. For all kinds of reasons. You might need it to get home with.
I use one of my red tailights on solid to see in a bag because they are handy and come off the bracket fast. I wish I could say I do it because red does not destroy your night vision when looking in the bag, but I just thought of that now.
Next year I'll say it's because it does not hurt my night vision. Let's see who catches me next year!

Alzheimers..........
Did I lock the garage door? Did I already ask you that ?
Who's that guy rolling my Ghisallo down the driveway?
He has a New Yawk accent. It sounds like he said "on time for the ferry". ???
