First (sorta) commute of the year today. YAY!
Finally just did it (tm). I'm at a new client, so I took a couple days to scope it out, and after much deliberation about logistics (it's a good 30mi one way) I rode in this morning*. Damn it felt good to ride to work again 
* Okay okay, so I rode from/to my girlfriend's house, a scant 10mi round trip. But still, I did it. My plan is to ride from her house a couple days a week, and the other days drive halfway (or bus) and ride the rest. And in my defense, it's not an easy 5mi:

That's a good stiff climb all right!
After you've done five or six years it will seem very easy .
Seriously, I used to have to take a breather halfway up the hills around home. I don't have to do that any more, and more to the point, I can keep riding and riding and riding.
Plus, you have an excellent incentive.
