First commute to the new job =)
It was a nice and balmy 27 out when I left this morning for my quick 2 mile ride to work. It was good to be riding, though the shifting is still messed up on my mountain bike (road bike is down at the moment). I have replaced the cassette, chain, deraillure, and cable and it still skips around in the center cogs. I'm thinking the rear suspension sag causes some problems, it is very annoying though. I'm going to spend some more time today trying to fix it, but I'm at a loss =/

rear suspension sag will not only make you look goofy. It will also suck your pedal force like no ones business. I had problems with my rear suspension air shock on my MTB while back and it was a PITA and hella expensive to get fixed. If it is a air based shock I would take it to the dealer because it is not something you want to fix on your own

I'm planning on building a cheap SS, but I just don't have the time at the moment.

hey, what are you doing riding a MTB to work, when you have two road bikes at your disposal? Or hold on, you said its what you have to ride at the moment, what about the alloro? That waterford sounds nice too.
I also have a vintage road bike, but it needs a new freewheel and rear wheel build (came with a tubular rim). I rode it for like 4 days, its the best for dry weather. Then i got a flat on the tubular.
