There is also the option to extend the time and make it part of quality peaceful time.
Slow down, have some coffee, read the paper, relax.
Maybe it will take away from some other little 'downtime' you get during the day, but it may be a worthwhile trade.

Taking a while to get going really isn't a big deal. We are far too busy as a society.
.....says the guy who tries to go faster and faster.
I was reading about a movement related to the slow food movement. It is called a slow city. God I want to move a slow city.

In the winter, I need to check the temp, weather and forecast before I dress, and it can take 30 minutes to leave. But in the summer when I pretty much just wear the same thing every day, if I pack my bag the night before, I can wake up and be out the door in 15 minutes. It could be 5 minutes but my body's gotten "regular" and used to using the bathroom in the morning, and it won't be delayed. I could probably rebalance the timing, but I've got to do it sometime and that would just add to the time at the other end of the ride and increase the chances of an unfortunate occurance (sorry for TMI).
I dress casually at work. I take 5 shirts and a pair of jeans to work and leave them there in a drawer. The jeans are replaced weekly (they don't get very dirty when you take a shower, put them on, and just sit at a desk wearing them all day and take them off before going home), the shirts I change out every 2 weeks (so each one gets worn twice, once a week). They're just T shirts and polo shirts.
I sit at my desk on a towel for about 15 minutes, doing my email and stuff, when I get to work, before I shower. I take about 3 minutes in the shower, 5 if I shave there (I don't necessarily shave every shower). I lather up my face with soap, turn off the water, shave, flip the water on enough to wet down, turn the water off again, soap up, then turn the water on to rinse and get out. Then about 3 more minutes to dress. At max I'm in the bathroom 10 minutes.

Do what you can the night before, then enjoy your mornings. A balanced breakfast and a slow start isn't time lost, it's well-being gained.
