looking for some ideas on a all black road bike, as in, derailer black, brakes black, lettering black, nothing to be seen at night, i like sneaking up on people who are on the wrong side of the bike trail and tell them which side to be on, my bike is already black, but its still got the brakes and derailer that are chromish looking, any ideas?

Heck I can snick up on people wearing bight yellow vest riding my silver bike. It's all in the speed, and how quiet your drive train is.

Just hope your chain line is 100% matched up to within half a mm...
Mine's off by 1 measley mm and it sounds like a meat grinder.

So let me get this right. You want a ninja bike so you can sneak up and scare people on the MUP? I hope you don't encounter anyone with my reaction to being snuck up on in the dark. I think you run a high risk of getting your behind kicked for being an a-hole.

black fixed gear cog, dura-ace lockring (the only black ones I've seen?), I'm pretty sure there's black chains out there, as well as black ski-masks and black... wait, what's going on here?

mavic brakes are black.. thats a start.

You could also coat them in tar... its black and will reduce noise so you will be more ninja.

No you are not. Real ninja would never admit that they are ninjas!

Ah; but a real ninja who wanted to fool you into thinking they wern't really a ninja would claim to be one to throw you off. At least I think that's what they would do. To be honest I just confused myself so I'm not sure anymore.

I scared my boss by riding up close behind her... probably not too clever in retrospect. Zooming up silently behind a woman walking from her car to a closed store at 5:00 in the morning....

The Nashbar cyclocross frame is all black. No lettering except for the Nashbar logo on the front.

In regards to the drivetrain, just cover all the bits with thick black oil. It'll be black like you want, rust-resistant, and whisper-quiet!

Sounds like you just have a noisy chain. Try a cheaper one

Eh, sometimes you get lucky. But spray paint and a fixie are absolutely the way to go. I think you can even find black chains.

Take off your brakes and shifters - no more chrome. My bike (were it not for the wheels, which I could spray paint if I wanted) would be all one color. Even spray painted the BB. Whoops.

Would you like an Airsoundz for when you pull alongside?
