Cool. Being amused is the right response. Trails are fine for people out for a leisurely recreational ride. For those of us just trying to get to work, the shortest/fastest way is the right way. We don't even have trails around here except stupid ones with 10 MPH speed limits in parks that go in circles. I'd be really irritated at mandatory sidepath laws if we had them here though, and I'd do whatever it took to avoid them.
