"Thundr" - My Paint Stripped 2000 cannondale road bike
"Orange Crush" - 2007 Kona Major Jake
"The Widow Maker" - 2007 Specialized Epic Marathon

The Univega - the Uni (an uninspired nod to The Janitor from Scrubs)
The Peugeot - Otis the Pug
The Fuji - Ol' Red
the Phillips - Granddad

The rest are yet un-named, but I also don't have many miles on them - they haven't "come to me" yet.

yes!

neuroflora 06-03-10 03:55 PM

Soba-chan (little granny) or "the old lady"

MVclyde 06-03-10 05:56 PM

Seven Axiom = "My Road Bike" (but my wife calls it the last bike I'll ever buy)
Schwinn Fastback = "The Commuter"
Wife's Schwinn Fastback = "Little Schwinn"
Work in progress = "My Cross Check" (it'll be "The Commuter" eventually)

Greyryder 06-03-10 06:42 PM

The Supercross, and the Redline. I have other things I could call the Redline, but many of them would probably get me banned. I could call it Floppy, since the stays seem to be made from some sort of waterlogged pasta product.

Sangetsu 06-04-10 08:21 AM

I regularly ride 4 different bikes, but they are all referred to as "my bike".

rmanla - Thanks for waking this thread up, it is a fun one.

I need to come up with better names for my bikes. I mostly just call them by parts of their given names:

- The Fisher
- The TriCross
- The Dahon

rex_kramer 06-05-10 07:56 AM

I jokingly referred to my first commuter (steel MTB) as the Harvester of Sorrow.

"Ratty wheeling"! Alternative names include "Wager the Linty", and "Lethargy Twine"

I haven't decided which of these to go with yet. I kinda like "Wager the Linty", sounds like a buncha pirates upping the stakes with some valued dryer fluff.

She's got the frame of a Raleigh Twenty, the front hub of a Bike Friday Tikit, some spokes I found under the microwave at the shop, rims from gutted electric bicycles, a seatpost stolen from a Huffy, a saddle stolen from a broken down CCM tandem, and a newly added Sturmey Archer XRD8 [w], the suckiest gear hub of the new millennial! Oh yes, and a spiffy shiny bell.

Soon to be added is a biiiig basket. And I want a cup holder too. And maybe braze ons for a handgun holster, in honour of the bike I recently didn't buy.

I call her Miss Girl.

I call my Redline Conquest Pro "Race Car". Actually came from a neighbors comment when he said "Wow that thing is like a Race Car". Name stuck with me.

devianb 06-06-10 10:07 PM

I have been calling my Dawes bike the black devil because its black and its always giving me some sort of problem. My leader bike is blue and works perfectly, but I call it the blue devil for continuity. I like these names so If I got another bike it would be just what ever color the bike is followed by devil.

mijome07 06-06-10 11:07 PM

I bought a 2010 Dawes 'Dead Eye' in 01/'10. I entertained the thought of adding red accents (i.e. wheels (red rims/hubs), seat post collar, head set, skewers, chain ring, cog, etc.) and calling it 'Red Eye' with custom decals.

Or not. :D

mtalinm 06-07-10 07:36 PM

I call my Roubaix "Ruby". I know that Specialized makes a bike called Ruby, but I decided to use the name for my own. Just seems like a more feminine bike - sleek, nice lines, etc.

My commuter is "The Tank" because it is pretty much indefatigable in all weather conditions and requires zero maintenance (no chain; IGH; roller brakes). It's a guy for sure.

bhop 06-29-10 04:25 PM

I finally thought of names for my bikes after getting my second one.

My favorite, a Novara Express, I usually call "Eeyore" since although it's a sort of fast flat bar road bike I'm not one to ride sort of fast. It has a second name too, "Michelle".

My other bike, a Trek 8.3 DS, I call "Charley" though frequently it just goes by the name "the Trek".

Condorita 04-29-12 08:02 AM

In my sig line.

alexaschwanden 04-29-12 10:21 AM

I call my road bike by it's proper name Cannondale CAAD10.

RGNY 04-29-12 11:45 AM

Frank.

big, green and made from a random collection of parts.

(this afternoon's project is to go clipless...)
