I have a cheapie Cat Eye EL-200, 3-led light, which broke today. The mounting feet on the bottom of the light broke so now the light won't stay seated on the handlebar mount. Temp solution, duct tape. The light was only bright enough to be seen, not bright enough to see. Good thing it's summer with the long days so I'll be okay without the light.

I usually go with the philosophy, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But now it's broke, so now it's time to fix it. It finally gives me a excuse to go shopping for a new light. Ooooo, HID. Ooooo, expensive.

I guess with all the recent flooding of lighting threads people are not willing to click on my thread. No biggie. Bad timing on my part I guess.

I am seeking rationalization to replace my 15W halo, but mooning over LED rather than HID. Cygo dual cross, cateye double/triple shot seem to be pretty close to replacing illumination of 15W halo for similar price. Have been haunting the new electronics forum for inspiration.

Yup. I could use my Surefire, but that'll eat through batteries. It's about time I pluck down the money to get good lighting. I wanna see you run a pair of Hellas on your bike.

I've been researching and have narrowed it down to a couple a lights. I'm most likely gonna pass on the HID's.

Possible choices so far based on a compromise on price+run time+brightness:

-Cygolite DualCross 300 LED NiMH
-Jet Starfire NiMH

Yup, I should of got a good light in the first place, but I was being cheap. Got what I paid for. Ugh.

I hopped over to the Electronics Forum too. I read through a bunch of their lighting threads. It's funny though.

I have so many other flashlights, yet I cheaped out on my bike light. Now it's time to get a REAL bike light.
