People who have langsters what kind of panniers do you have on it? I don't want to buy something that wouldn't fit. I am not looking for anything big. Something that would fit a laptop, bike lock, and some small produce.

Despite having rack braze-ons, I think on a Langster you're required by law to use a mess bag. I suggest Chrome.

Thats right. You should also grow a goatee and get some ink done.

I've found it's not so much the panniers but the rack. You have to see how far back in relation to the bottom attachment screw that the pannier attaches to the rack.

I have one rack, a Burly, that my panniers hook in a good 3 or 4 inches behind where the rack bolts to the frame. Another rack I have a pannier only hooks in about half an inch back. And the third rack I own, the pannier actually hooks in forward of where it the rack bolts to the frame. Needless to day, the last rack lives on my bike with the longest chainstay.

Look for panniers that are adjustable forward and aft. I've never used one, but those briefcase panniers might work.

I use an Old Man Mountain Red Rock rack and Arkel Bug pannier/backpack on my Langster. It's tight because of the very short chainstays, but I don't have any heel strike issues. You will need a long rack like the Red Rock. You might even also need something like the Tubus rack extenders that thetouringshop.com sells.

I use a Topeak system, with an MTX Quick Release, seatpost mount BeamRack, along with a Topeak MTX Rear Trunk bag with Panniers. Works great, no heel issues, nice and sturdy. Don't be afraid of the seat post mount racks - in my opinion they work pretty well. And I am totally sold on the MTX system - no velcro straps, just slide the bag onto the rails and it clicks into place.

Do you have carbon or aluminum seatpost?

Aluminum ... I *am* afraid of clamping one of those suckers down on a CF post.

+1. It's a track bike and it is immoral to put a rack on it. Wait, this isn't the SSFG forum.

I am using a messenger bag. It suits my purposes fine for now, but I want to start brining my laptop with me and don't feel like chugging it on my back.

Mine is carbon so don't really want to clamp anything to it. I would like something that uses those eyelets on rear triangle.

Replace it.

Why would I replace a perfectly good post? I am sure there are racks out there that can be attached to those eyelets on the frame.

What frame size does your Langster has, also what is your crank length?
How do you like the Bug? I was looking at their website and they also sell Commuter bag with a laptop sleeve. Since I will be chugging my laptop around I was thinking about that, but not sure how convenient it is to carry a U lock in the commuter series bag.

I gotta reiterate what's already been said. Langsters and a rack is like oil and water. It's like Superman and Kryptonite. It's cereal with water. It's pasta topped with mayo. It's sex with a condom.

My frame is 56cm. The cranks are stock, not exactly sure of the length and the bike is at the train station right now, so I can't look/measure. It is a 2004 version though, so you might be able to find it out there somewhere.

I like the Bug alot. I carry a laptop everyday and I just put it in a padded laptop sleeve that came from an old travel briefcase before sticking it in the Bug. No wear and tear issues on the laptop that I can tell. I do a bike-train-bike multimodal commute, so I appreciate and use the backpack conversion feature of the Bug everyday. Give the folks at Arkel a call. They will ask you about your needs and talk you through their products that will work best for you. I have had nothing but great experience with their products and customer service.

And what is wrong with condoms? I really don't mind not having VD...
