You can find several threads on here about carrying firearms while riding.

edit: in the roadie forum.

A couple of well placed slugs in the engine, maybe take out a couple of tires, and you've made a pedestrian out of that cager.... and if you do decide to put the SOB out of his/her misery it rarely takes more than one shot to take care of business, especially if you score a head shot.

That's a nice piece, but the gas recoil system that Israeli Arms built in, while very nice for the shooter, really detracts from the stopping power.

If you want .50 cal size then get the .50AE, which is the most powerful handgun out there. I believe Raging Bull has a model. My preference would be the .454 Casull in the Ruger Redhawk Super Alaskan. It's small enough to carry in a pocket and has the stopping power to put down an elephant, really. If you want to score the engine block, this would be the way to go.

I always thought the .50 Deagle would be nice even just for scare factor. It can rattle off 7 rounds faster than any handgun of it's size. That alone would make a cager pause!

I shot one of those in .44 Magnum once. It had a nasty habit of ejecting the spent cartridges straight back into my face...not fun.

BTW-I'm pretty sure the Smith & Wesson Model 500 Magnum is the most powerful handgun in the world currently.

My mistake...I'm stepping all over myself with my handgun memory! The .50AE was the most powerful BEFORE the Casull...the Casull eclipsed it significantly, then the S&W Mag. came out in .460 and .500 and took the cake.

This is just too easy . . . :D

Now that does look uncomfortable! Do you straddle the stock? The scope?

Yes. I see now how this topic brings out the crazies. It's almost as bad as one of those threads: What's the best __________ ?

akatsuki 10-12-07 12:39 PM

Ummm, does nobody carry that big hunk of metal called a bike lock with them? Take the U-lock, hold it by the curved part and you can pretty much do whatever kind of damage you want to someone. If you have a heavy chain lock, those things can also do some real damage, just don't hurt yourself!

DVC45 10-12-07 12:52 PM

Gun pics?! Did I just see gun pics?

Don't have pics, but my arsenal includes:

.300 Weatherby mag, Browning with composite stock, fluted stainless barrel, Leopold Scope
.243 Winchester, lever action Browning with Leopold
Browning 12 ga. GTI over and under
.44 Desert Eagle
.22 survival rifle
.270 Weatherby Colt Sauer
.340 Weatherby Mark V

More of a hunter than a militant, but I wouldn't be opposed to blasting a cager ;)

I ride with one of these in a trailer. It's hooked up to my heart, so if it stops beating it blows up. It also has voice command, so if I sneeze, it blows up. I'm such a badazz.....

Hey, I own a couple guns but you'll notice my first response to this thread was to carry a cell phone.

I have never and probably never will carry a gun with me when I ride. I'm not so paranoid that I feel the need to arm myself when cycling and since you never know when you'll need it and 99.9% of the time you don't need it I just opt to not carry one...not to mention the fact that it's illegal to carry a weapon, concealed or otherwise, in CA and they rarely issue concealed carry permits.

Yeah, in Philly we can carry with a permit and Id rather not take even a 1% chance of my family or myself being harmed by some drug addicted zombie or some a55hole that thinks we owe him something because we work hard and he doesnt  My choice has nothing to do with being paranoid and everything to due with trying my best to keep my family safe :) Better to have it and not need it.......

Agreed...first prize. The other day my wife was driving through our old neighborhood (the one that prompted me to get my permit) and a guy who we had some unpleasant encounters with in the past stumbled out of his apt. and right into fast flowing traffic, directly inf ront of my wife. She slammed on her brakes, almost hitting the guy, who didn't even flinch. He did, however, pause, look directly at her and shot her with a 'finger gun.' I took this to mean "Watch out or I'll cap you."

Another time an unleashed pack of pitbulls attacked my dog (6 one 1) and knocked my wife over while she was holding our six month old. She rose and kicked each one very hard, multiple times and dissipated the situation as the owners weren't doing a thing. Had it escalated it would have been nice to know the dogs could easily have been dealt with.

Not saying we should all carry guns and be lawless, but, then again population control has to happen through some means ;)

One idea might be one of those little pen-size voice recorders that records about 20 seconds of speech. Put it on a cord around the neck, easily accessible, and then repeat and absorb the concept, "Don't get mad, get a license number."

and in the case of an attacking pack of pitbulls? I'd rather put 'em down, to be honest.

I carry a Streetwise 800,000 volt stun baton that is unsheathed and ready and
a squirt style shampoo bottle filled with the juice from Goya Jalapeno peppers.
I think it might be able to be reclassified as napalm in raw form.
I used to laff at "what do you carry threads" until I moved here.

+1 pepper spray then a stun gun. Best to deal with them before they reach you. Some stun guns now have 130db alarms which could help draw attention and scare off thugs.

You'all see this? - this is ma Frenchie 18 shot two barrelled pin-fire reevolver. Any cager who sees this in ma hand is gunna run a mile coz they're soooo scared when they see all them holes point'n at them they thinks it's gunna blow up and take us all out should I pull the trigger .....

Seriously though in martial arts, - well the sword arts anyway, - I was taught that the ultimate aim was to attain the state of 'no sword' where nobody wants to attempt to attack you anyway. I don't like guns since I consider them to be the weapon of a coward. (Look I trained in the sword arts - what do you expect me to say - huh?). Because I have a disability I nearly always carry a walking stick and if I really really really had to I'd use my walking stick to defend myself against an aggressor. But to tell the truth I'd rather not go looking for trouble and even if somebody is the king zit on the backside of the world I don't think I have the right to kill them unless they seriously push me to it and leave me absolutely no other choice.
