best weapons for commuting ?

Just wondering, I noticed a 911 supply store in my area today ... I'm going to swing by and see if they have anything cool and destructive that I can easily carry with me for dispensing angry cagers, or just random acts of violence..

Any suggestions for what to look for?

A small single shot paint ball gun would be great, with a handlebar mount.

jyossarian 10-11-07 12:59 PM

Grenades. Pull pin, throw through window, run away.

Best weapons:
Common sense
Strong legs

Cell phone.

Several things I like to carry: 3/4" or 1" steel ball bearings - to throw at windows

telescoping baton - for hand to hand

bear spray - like mace, but much more potent

.38 ca Smith & Wesson

This is my urban arsenal -- for the rural areas, you need much more firepower.

[Just kidding on all of the above, of course]

Less of a militant attitude?

I'm not sure if that item is available for purchase at this store.

The other day I was wondering if there was a way to combine an Air Zounds and a BB gun and mount it to my handlebar.

Best weapon I use regularly is a Fox40 whistle, unlike the whistle your old coach's whistle, this one just gets louder the harder you blow it and it was designed for pro soccer games to be heard over the crowds.

You'd be amazed at the surprise that registers when you hit it next to an oblivious driver that's crowding you, the high pitch works on dogs too.

And if all else fails, I have seven feet of cable and a Master lock No.40 that makes a great attitude adjuster.

I have thought about this after see a Mythbusters , but I'm sure it would get me in more trouble. So I just blow them kisses and tell them everyone loves them.

confirmed

The device is designed with a pointed tip designed to shatter tempered glass. The hammer breaks the window on the first try.

I think a big grin pisses them off more.
I usually carry a pepper spray. But during nighttime ridding or taking on unfamilliar routes, I have a little special I carry with me (no, its not attatched permanently to my body :D ).

jeff-o 10-11-07 02:49 PM

A pocket camera.

climbhoser 10-11-07 02:58 PM

Glock 30.

Holds 7 rounds of .45ACP and is pretty slim tucked into a waist holser on your backside. Shoots straight, needs almost no maintenance, and will take care of a bear.

And leave the bike behind?

yea a black bear, just piss off a griz.

bikebuddha 10-11-07 03:22 PM

Take an xtracycle and mount a .30 machine gun. Your passenger can act as the gunner and I'll guarantee no one will tailgate.

Well, anything short of a Caussul will do about that, in terms of handguns. But, there haven't been grizz south of Montucky in a long time.

Besides, I was talking about the human 'bears...' as in big, angry biker guys who don't like you in their lane. & .45ACPs in the chest will keep them beyond arms distance!

Trolls typically get a lower THAC0 with melee weapons, so you might want to start there.

4 inch ruger 44 mag, works well with the moose on the bike path, people in cars tend to be smaller and don't have racks
