My new commuter finally outfitted...

Hello again,

I recently joined bike forums, commuter thread and was asked to post a few pictures. I've outfitted my new commuting bicycle and here are 2 pictures for you: 2008 Specialized Globe 6 bicycle (58cm), Axiom Columbus rear pack w/fold down panniers, Incredi-bell Brass Duet, Trec flashing front light, Vista flashing rear light, Cateye wireless 7 cycle computer.

I am hoping the 2 photos are easily read on this post. Front view, rear view (with flash to show reflective materials)

So far I'm happy with the bike. I find the generator light requires very little speed to hit full front brightness. I'm getting used to the feel of the bike. On my commute, (West Los Angeles to Hollywood) especially at night, most motorist have been courteous, perhaps because they can see me unlike so many other bike riders in the Hollywood area. Each day there is at least one jackass, but that's only be be expected in LA.

I always ride with a Giro helmet, wrap around glasses, gloves, yellow/reflective nylon jacket and I carry a "Brave Soldier" first aid pack in addition to tools, pumb and tube.

A larger picture...

Hey everyone, I'm learning the clicks and drags of this site... I kept puting small photo attachments in my messages, but this should come out larger.

Hope these photos are better. - 3bikes

I too would like a chainguard. Why aren't they available in the US? They are everywhere else in the world. My wife has relatives in Europe and I think I'll have to get them to pick one up for me and ship it.

Nice pics. This looks like serious Breezer Uptown 8 competition. I'm trying to see the differences between the two. The Specialized has 700cc tires vs 26" on the Breezer. Perhaps that rear hub is the Nexus 8 and not the premium 8 included on the Breezer. Otherwise they look practically identical. And the Breezer is several hundred dollars more.

Well, I looked at the Breezer site. Yes, the style of bike is nearly identical, however I noticed the steering tube appears to be a one piece chrome section. It looks like a equal or better light system. In my humble opinion, the styling is better on the Specialized, that sort of basic black on everything... it looks cool. Just call me brand loyal, but I have a Specialized FSR mountain bike that cannot be broken, even though I've tried since 1998.
