I'm pondering the 1x8 myself. However, I'm trying to evaluate how simple it would be: i.e. do I need a new BB so I can fit some BBGBashguards on or not?
If it's just a cassette, derailler, cable and DT shifter I'm there in about 3 mos.

Bikes: Roadbike, commuterbike and wife's "Bike with a bell and a basket" 3 speed.
Even Pee-Wee Herman would be jealous... Don't get it stolen. You could get tackled for that bike! Reminds me of an all wood Chris Craft runabout. Do you need coasters when it rains!
Do you have a Take-a-Look mirror on your glasses?
Nice piece!
