Thoughts on a new commuter frame?

I'm looking for a frame with horizontal dropouts to run an internal geared hub.
So far I've narrowed it down to the Salsa Casseroll, Surly Crosscheck. I want plenty of clearance for 32mm tires and fenders, plus braze-ons for racks/fenders. Needs to have 130-135mm rear spacing to fit the internal geared hub.
I also want the one with more relaxed geometry. So not looking at any ss/fixed track specific frames. I'll be setting this up with On-One Mary bars or something similar like the Origin8 Space Bar.
Any other ideas for a frame in the same general price range as the ones i mentioned?
Your thoughts on either of these two or these compared to something else?
TIA!

I have been thinking of the same sort of setup lately, except I'm not sure if I just want a single speed. I'm looking for a complete bike though with the option of an internal gear hub in the future.

Have you seen this frame: https://steelwoolbicycles.ca/frames/tweed.php It's a little pricier but the eccentric BB is really sweet (and eliminates the need for a horizontal dropout). It's also got every braze-on you could ever need.

This probably doesn't help as the are complete bikes (unless you can get 2nd hand frames) but I test drove a Bianchi San Jose and a Masi Speciale Commuter today. In my limited experience I can say I liked the Bianchi much better. It was a bit lighter, snappier to accelerate, and the geometry seemed to fit me better. Mind you the San Jose doesn't have horizontal drops, but have you seen this page: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/b...os8/index.html
It might be another option.

btw - I love the Rivendell!

Thanks!

hmmm... that steelwool is kinda nice. And about the same price as the Salsa frame.
I like that it has disc brake tabs.
I wonder if they ship to the USA?

As far as Masi goes, I wouldn't mind having the cream colored version of this frame...

And yeah, I basically want to do what sheldon did with that san jose but spec'd out a bit differently.

Check the head tube lengths. I think that the casserrole is larger head tube, so the bars will be higher (or lower spacer stack). Also, you probably want a long top tube for the Mary on those bikes (made for drops).

I would recommend a 2006 Rivendell Atlantis/Black w/Cream Filling/Pics and Specs Here.

relaxed geometry, track ends, braze ons/eyelets, discs, definitely a pugsley.
