Ah the Irony: Nearly Hit on Bike to Work Day
I ride the same route every morning, usually with no problems (except for that %&*#! garbage truck). But this morning a woman pulling out of a McDonalds nearly ran me over. I yelled and smacked her hood causing her to spill her coffee out her window. I'm glad it didn't land in her lap but she came really close to putting me in a world of pain. Anyway she looked really embarrassed and just sped away.
On the plus side I saw three other people on bikes this morning. Two well-lit roadies who looked to be commuting with backpacks, and a bike ninja riding down the side of the road.

I had an unexpected meeting with a cyclist yesterday. I'm sorry to say I was in my car.
In the attachment, I'm the red dot. I'm in this right-turn lane that has a yield sign onto the main road. I'm stopped with a car in front of me, I look left and there's a cyclist standing on the median (blue dot) right at my front fender. I waved her across and she proceeded across and onto the sidewalk on the other side.
I'm honestly not sure when she got there, if I came close to cutting her off, or what. It unnerved me a little bit, but I've chosen to assume she was smart enough to watch for approaching traffic. Looked like a relatively new cyclist on a commute home.
On my bike, I come through this intersection going the same direction she was, but I'm in the road. Regardless, I still have to watch for this right turn yield lane. Seems like a great place to get run over.
