I love Newyork !!

So living in New Jersy, and commuting from Teaneck to Jersey City, I see a few weekend warriors with reasonably decent bikes, and some small distance commuters on X-mart bikes (mostly mexicans). Not much variety in NJ.

But man do I love NY ! So many varieties of bikes. Am I the only one drooling over some nice bikes parked on the sidewalks in NY or there are others like me ? !!

O and yesterday I see a hot chick in NY. Wearing skirt, riding a nice single speed cruiser in NY. WITHOUT A SEAT !! Just the seat post ! Almost didn't believe my eyes Was with my wife and mom at that time so all I could do is stare, and not let my jaw drop.

Every visit to NYC I feast my eyes on all the cool bikes locked up on the street while their owners work. The vintage three speed contingent is well represented, and there are plenty of other rides, of all types and ages. There's a different bike dynamic in NYC...you get the idea while looking at them how personal each bike is.

Didn't get any pics.

She was standing on the pedals, but still never expected a young hottie in skirt riding a bike without a seat !

Skirts, dresses all go in NYC

I commute to NYC via the George Washington Bridge. I get what you are saying about the bikes. Yes, skirts, dresses, etc are valid cycling wear in NYC.

It would would not surprise me if it had been stolen. Friends of mine had their bikes stolen in NYC about two weeks ago. That is why I carry three locks. lol.

I commute in NYC. I started because of the typical reasons, fitness, environment, but I have to say one of the major factors that keeps me going and keeps the ride frickn' fantastic is all the beautiful people I see (when I say people I really mean woman). On bikes or walking. Espicaially this time of year when so many relish in the ability to shed as many layers of clothing as possible. Just pay attention not to run into those parked cars.

There's a guy who passes my house twice a day on a too small Magna mtb on his commute to the restaurant where he works. He walks it up hill. I chatted with him one morning while walking my dog at the same time he was on his way to work, walking the Magna. I found out two things, one he's from Guatemala, and two, he lives around seven miles away. The thought of making a 14 mile round trip on that bike everyday makes me cringe. But, I seriously doubt he'd be too keen on spending a $$$$ on a better bike.

It's not that I don't appreciate nice bikes, I do! But, I'd rather see more people on x mart bikes than a few people on cool ones.

See if you can't hook him up with a used bike that fits... is there a co-op anywhere near by?

+1 Don't ride into any potholes while you're admiring the view.
