Got tossed for the first time today!!
I was cruising to school down one of the many cement trails here in Omaha, two ladies come into sight riding side by side coming towards me neither of them wearing a helmet. I know they see me, and I am waving one of them over so I can pass cleanly...well the Dumb *@$%**$ doesn't move, I am forced into the wet grass....bike goes flying out from under my and I am skidding along the cement...skinned up my arm, shoulder and knee a little but I was ok...do you think she stopped to check on me?? Hell no....what a f*$#king B$#@h....man I am pissed. Bike was ok, and so am I, but what kind of **** is that? Just needed to vent. I was totally in street riding mode and bounced right up and moved out of the way...but man it was scary to think if that happened in the street...
Good luck on your commutes, be safe...and wear a damn helmet...

My rule of riding is: Don't move out of the way for idiots that are doing something dangerous or silly (unless it's *really* necessary). I'd have stuck my line and made them get the hell out of the way, yelling "NO BRAKES!" and looking scared makes people move out of the way very quickly, too.

Move over and if she didn't move, ram her and land on her jumblies.

Were they also Wrong Way Cyclists? That's what it sounds like from the description.
Unfortunately for you, they were probably wondering something like "what's that crazy guy doing on the wrong side of the road...doesn't he know he's supposed to ride against traffic?"

it was on a trail...they were just taking up both sides of it...it is like a 6-8 foot trail, they go all through town...which is good since this town doesn't even notice riders on the road...next time I am just going to clip her...

Next time don't wave. Yell.
Be a bit more directive.

When the weather turns nice, the hike and bike trails turn into a mine field. On the path I ride daily, there is an assorted mixture of wobbly comfort bike riders making slow, unpredictable moves, road racers riding super fast and not warning anyone when pacing (if a roadie is too cool for a bell couldn't they at least yell "Hey I'm coming up on your left!"), inline skaters taking the whole width of the path, and people walking dogs without leashes.
Luckily, I haven't wiped out yet, but I generally hold my ground and slow down or stop if necessary to get around someone or let someone get around me. I wouldn't have let someone run me off the pavement unless there was absolutely no alternative.

How does their wearing a helmet or not change anything that happened?
Maybe I'm reading your tone wrong. It sounds like you were really clippping along. If thats' so, I'm thinking things like this are going to happen to you a lot. I'm not saying it's bad because I do the same at times.
It's give and take on bikes just like anything else. If they don't move, we either have to move over or carry bandages and perks. *>)

If I had hit them and they had landed on their f--ing head the story could have been much worse...so it does not change what happened. However, if I would have not hit the grass and fallen, crashing into them it could have been much worse.
Why am I even explaining it...just wear a helmet...you only have one head...
