Co-worker I have never met before comes into my cube, he points at my bike. Says "Can I ask you a few questions - I bought a bike and I need to know what I need for it".

He had picked up a Specialized Crossroads hybrid from some years back, $200 used off of CL, hardtail triple chainring. He had a helmet, pump, and front and rear commute lights. I said "Get yourself a tube, and some chain lube, clean and lube the chain a couple times a month" I picked up his bike and said "Light, nice, I'm jealous". He started talking about "a thinner wheel" and I said "this is perfect, don't change a thing. When it's not enough, come talk to me, but this is a perfect bike to commute on". He has a 4 mile commute. I shook his hand and said "Welcome!"
