Getting Easier

Well, I am about 3 weeks in and boy is this getting easier. Still not easy, but the commute is getting much better. I did not realize how out of shape I was. I am really enjoying this, just sorry that it took the high gas prices to force me into it.

Ditto! I am in my 4th calendar week, but missed a handful of days. It is a big difference!

I've been commuting for a few years now. Yesterday, the commute to work was under glorious blue skys with a few fluffy clouds - then in the afternoon the clouds gathered and there were downpours on the commute home - I felt like a 10 year old kid flying home with a strong tail wind, and splashing through the puddles! It will continue to get easier, and I doubt that any motorists had as much fun as I did yesterday while going home!

before you know it, your typical route home will feel like nothing and you'll start looking for a longer, and maybe more scenic route.

I'm at like 8 weeks or something, not really keeping track. Hear you on the head wind though, I ride east to work and west(duh) home, in the morning its usually a tail wind with a downhill topography, the ride home however, if its not windy its usually because the uphill climb is blocking it for me...

I'm glad for the exercise though, and would rather arrive home all sweaty then the reverse.

I started around 2 weeks ago now. The route is around 12 miles each way for me and it is getting easier. I had taken quite a few spin classes before i started also at my gym. This is much more enjoyable then class is though. I even find myself riding to the bagel shop on the weekends to get a morning breakfast and to just get out and ride. I also deal with a headwind usually on the way home and there is more hills to climb on the way home. One good one when I start and another close to home.

This is my first week so I'm really the newbie here. I've been working up for this for several weeks though so it's not been too bad. I'm generally heading north to south going home and often have a headwind but that is only a problem in the open areas.

It was raining lightly today when I came in - I'm buying fenders tonight. It's not all just about getting into shape but just learning what needs to be done. I'm so glad I ran across this forum.
