Need advice buying a new bike

I have been out test riding bikes for several weeks and though I can tell some differences I am not up to speed on what componants are better than others and what I should be looking for. I have been riding a bike for the past 3 years that I got free out of my sisters garage so anything seems wonderful to ride! I try to ride my bike as much as I can vs. driving the car. I have come to the conclusion that I like the sport/fitness hybrid or flat bar road bikes or any of the other names they are calling them.

I am down to two bikes (unless you suggest I ride something else):

Giant FCR 3W vs Jamis Allegro 1 (I was also looking at the Jamis Coda but was told that they probably wouldn't be getting another one in this season)

Does anyone have any feedback on a couple bikes I am looking at? I was planning on test riding them one more time and if I felt that the rides were no different, I would use price as the tie-breaker.

Thanks for your help....

Have you made a decision? I'm comparing the same 2 bikes.

How do you feel the ride was on the suspension fork vs the rigid one?
