I smile and wave.

If I want to feel like I am a better person than they are, it helps to actually be the better person.

Turns out that my bike alone does not make me superior.

I shout out "thanks for not killing me" with a huge smile on my face. Then I just go on about my happy day.

The CEO in this commercial delivers the word that comes to my mind:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMe3WDmxBEI

Basically, every time someone does something stupid, it's because they're -- duh -- being stupid. Then, "Dumass" still makes me chuckle every time I say it, and that pretty much defuses any anger I feel.

I have fun catching them and passing them at a few lights in a row at rushour. The place that we catch the majority of the lights has a bike lane. I generally don't try to block them in any way. F250 bumpers are brutal. Making it easy for them to pass is generally more of an act of self preservation in most cases if its not a left.

True. Don't get me wrong...I'm not some raging ass hole running around trying to fight everyone but I'm not shy when it comes to letting it be known they've pissed me off. And I do LOOK at the people first...I'm not going to tell Forrest Griffen (NEW CHAMP!!! What a great fight!!!) to get out of the car. I really don't SAY that at all. More of an unspoken thing, therefore I don't have to worry about the legalities of it. Besides...that would just turn into a my word against his thing anyway.

I typically offer a pithy verbal diagnosis of their mental capacity and ride on. I think my evil twin takes over when I ride my bicycle and she finds her patent superiority to everyone on four wheels invigorating.

1. Get one of these.

2. Mount it to your handlebar with one of these.

3. Enjoy!

you know it does not matter what they do. They are so caught up with their friggin' cell phone they have no idea that they were close to assault with a dangerous weapon.

Get over it, drivers doing stupid things comes with the territory. The point of cycling is to have fun, not run around holding grudges and always being pissed off.
Ohh sure...
Like the time you 'mentally willed' that jackhole cager into the ditch?

The problem with 'sizing up' someone is, you never quite know what they are capable of. Someone may not look like an @$$ kicker but they very well might be. Then there is always the element of someone carrying a firearm and if they feel threatened by aggressive behavior on your part, they may in fear of their own bodily harm, pop a cap in your @$$! Not every person in an auto means to do damage to a cyclist. I'll bet many just do not see us or they might have been distracted by a sneeze or the sun in their eyes, or whatever.

Everything should be as simple as possible...But not more so.
Your signature line goes perfectly with your assessment! The old "set your sights so low that you can only be impressed when things are different than expected" technique. I LIKE IT!
