I'm just saying I have seen threads were people are close and are saying I would like to ride but ... traffic or some other reason, when I would love to be close enough to work to ride a bike when it is nice . I am not anti car truck or suv if you really want to ride a bike to work quit worrying about it and turn some pedals. some of us aren't close enough to work to have that opportunity

I have been riding every day (Sans one, due to the fact I had to have the car with me to pickup our daughter and drive 1.5 hours for a dropoff with her) since Feb 15th. I've had days where I didn't exactly feel like it since then, but I did it, and I felt better after. I only have an 8 mile ride, so it's nothing major. There are days when I'd LOVE it to be a 20 mile ride, and others I'm glad it's not, but I can't say I've had one day this year I was sad it wasn't shorter. Now, considering just two years ago I did the 10 mile ride in to my old building and couldn't IMAGINE riding home, that's a heck of a change.
That being said, I value my time with my family, and if my ride were to take up more than 2 hours each way I'd have to think long and hard about how many days I could do that and feel right. Everyone has their own set of values, but kids and wives rank right up there near the top with me, so while I LOVE my bike, and biking in general, I have to balance with my other priorities.
Now, were I a single man again, and had I found this passtime then? Now THAT would have been quite a different story. And once our little one is out of the house, well, I think we're going to do some nice distance cycling with the tents and all on the weekends. Right now she's only 9, so she's up for some shorter rides, but the whaaaaambulance kicks in after anything over 10-15.
