In the long run, the cost of not excising is FAR greater than the extra cost of food regardless of how you value your health.
I mean, look at your example talking about the gym: So you drive to the gym, spend 6$ on gas, exercise on a treadmill, then you have to eat more again to recoup the calories and you didnt even drive.
