Number 30
Just made commute number 30 today. Started biking to work on April 2. Commute is 19 miles each way, and I have probably biked 60% of the days I've been in the office (few business trips, one vacation week, etc.) Total mileage so far 1127 (for those with a calculator, I had mechanical problems one day and had to get a ride home...), and I'm down 5 lbs. Commuting basically replaced morning spin class at the YMCA, so instead of 50 minutes of spin I now get 2+ hours of real riding, and it doesn't cost me any additional time at home with the family. I have been tracking my fuel savings, but my car gets 30 MPG so that's not been much of a motivator. 37.5 gallons at $4.15 means I've now paid off the TrailRat light I bought, but I still have clothes, tires, parts, etc. to cover! Still, I'm having a blast and it beats battling it out on the highway!

Congratulations on sticking with it. Besides the fuel savings don't forget about the maintenance savings too. Now you will have longer periods in between oil changes, tire rotations, tire replacements, etc!

Nice work! Your commute is roughly double mine!! I have been averaging 4 days per full week of work. THis week will be my first full week. I'm impressed, as I only have about 500 miles of commuting since the first week in June.

Looking back I'd say it's not that hard to start, It's much harder to stay with it. Then as the years go by it get easier and easier to stay with it. It becomes your life. You do things like move near better commute routes, and if you change jobs it's to companies the encourage it. And you become "that guy that rides his bike all the time"
Good job!
