Gilligan's Island ride

According to weather.com: "this storm produced nickel hail in Cocoa at 3:45 pm."

I rode through it; won't bore with a long thread. Both pedals did go underwater together several times, and I did get drilled by hail, and visibility was about a foot at times.

When faced with these 'obstacles', I did what I always do--I started singing Gilligan's Island (in my head), got a Grinchy grin, and rode on--even took a side ride. Attitude is everything. Ride on, little Buddy.

And remember, if you ever get bored with the words to Gilligan's Island, you can just substitute about half of Emily Dickinson's poems in there instead....

Just two questions...

Which version do you sing, "and the rest" (from the first season) or "the professor and Mary Ann"? (from the following two seasons)

And the second question of course, Ginger or Mary Ann?

When I first heard that "and the rest" when watching reruns as a kid, that just about blew my mind.

And does anyone ever pick Ginger?

That sounds like an awesome ride. I love storms and extreme weather and being out in it. Even riding in the wind.

I enjoy rainy rides myself, but hail will keep me in; ever since '03, when I rode thru water over my front disc and wound up with a nonfunctional Deore rear derailleur, I try to avoid the deeper stuff, too. Oh, yeah -- made the black ankle stripes on my PI socks run and stain my feet and the rest of the sock. (WAHHHH!)

Mary Ann -- she's sturdy and has endurance, plus she can cook!

Don't know why they say the Professor and Mary Ann when we all know Ginger had it for the Professor.

My favorite episode is the one where Mary Ann gets conked on the head and starts wearing Ginger's clothes.

edit: oh, I like riding in the rain as well.....

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

A Gilligan's Island ride, aka a Bataan Death march.....or a 3 hour tour.

There is no more challenging ride

I had one of these rides earlier this year. Gilligan's theme and also the Wizard of Oz 'It's a twister!!' music jump to mind. The sound of the hail off my helmet was cool.

Oh, and lest I forget-Mary Anne FTW.

I got caught in one of these Florida gulley washers recently. Water upto the bottom bracket ? no hail though.

Mary Ann could ride a bike in that dress (single speed coaster brake), Ginger no bike no way in that dress. Professor probably rode a recumbent, Thruston and Lovey only in a bike rick shaw (obvious) The skipper a rusty raleigh 3 speed on the dock for short trips to the store AND gilligan would ride a mal adjusted Walmart Bike.
