Commuting to Train - Best Time or Average Speed
On occasion, I ride my bike to work not just in the interest of saving gas and getting some exercise, but also as an added training session. I ride ~23 miles to work one way via one of the routes I take, and as it's by the ocean, I like to use it for training as opposed to other routes I take.
Yesterday, there were more cyclists on the road than normal, and 2 in particular helped me to push even harder than normal. Not only did sucking on their rear wheel help me keep up a pace, but ultimately passing both of them and going hard helped me achieve my best average speed ever (20.5 mph). It's not Tour De France speed, but I was pretty happy to break the 20 mph barrier I've been shooting for.
Here's my GPS view of the ride: https://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/6356686
Anyone else train during their commute and measure their time/speed?
