little bit of wisdom from a little while commuting.
Thought i'd post my views on the first 3 months of commuting everyday, every weather.
#1- no need to go high end for a commute. i pass or pace with people that are riding stuff that costs 4-5x what mine did.
#2- rain isn't your worst enemy.
#3- take the lane!
and...it's a good idea to slow down REAL SLOW at stop signs. track standing at stop signs screws with car driver's minds. for some reason, going across a road on an MUP every car stops for me, and it's annoying as **** if i'm not ready to go right then.
your LBS is your friend. most are happy to help you and are friendly, this was not my opinion 3 months ago. and...it pays to get to know the mechanic.
edit: take great care of your bike. baby it a little.
