I've been searching for a good deal on Michelin city tires. I thought I would try them, since they got some good initial reviews for their ability to handle heavy rain, and very low rolling resistance.

I was going for the regular Schwalbe marathons, sinc ethey are usually the same price as the Michelins, and Schwalbes have the status. However, After searching numerous sites, I ended up at AEBike, and he has the new Michelin City tire in both black, and with reflective sidewall. He also has the full variety of sizes. I got a set of the reflective tires in 700x32c.

Funny, I'm looking for tires for an old commuter and landed on the same thing. Likely going to buy the refective version.

I bought them in 26x1.75 and they seem to ride very nicely. They have a thick strip of hard rubber down the center to prevent punctures, which was what I was looking for. I just stumbled upon them at the local Performance Bike Shop in May and got them on sale for $16.50 with reflecting sidewall stripe. Sort of a poor man's Marathon Plus.

I bought a set of $6 ($12 total) Forte slick tires from Performance. No problems so far.

I have mine (28mm) on my Crosscheck and, while a bit slow for me, they rocked steady last night in a really heavy Az. monsoon. Very steady in flooded streets.

Thanks, I've been looking for cheap-ass tires. There are no road hazards around here, I get flats less than once a year even on the cheapest tires (they often wear out at 3000 miles with no flats) so I have been looking for closeouts. Last year's tires came from a Nashbar closeout for $4.99 each. This is a good backup if I don't happen across any more cheapo tires.

I'll have to use what I save there to buy new studded tires though; I'm switching from Nokians to Marathon Winters.

awesome. that's exactly the kind of tire I've been looking for and a great price. I've been putting off forking out for conti's or schwab's because $$ is tight right now, but those Michi's fit the bill perfeclty. Thanks for posting.
