Cleaning Tire Marks off Tile Floor?

I made some tire marks on my tiled floor, and now there is black streaks everywhere. Whats the best way to clean it??

z415 09-03-08 09:28 PM

Unfortunately for me, I did the same and was unable to get it out. However, mine was because I tried see if I can spin at 200 rpms on my rollers and fell off so it is very very bad.

Good luck to you.

shubonker 09-03-08 09:35 PM

I was adjusting my brakes :(

z415 09-03-08 09:39 PM

Maybe a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? That worked to get the top layer off for me. It works by very fine abrasion.

I use wd40 on a rag.....Works like a charm!

Fingernails, that's why you have them.

Popeyecahn 09-03-08 11:54 PM

Elbow grease...

AdrianFly 09-04-08 06:30 AM

Belt sander?

cyclezealot 09-04-08 06:41 AM

What is the problem.. Test your wife's patience when you get a little spot of chain oil grit on the carpet.

Funny you should mention this...it happened to me 3 nights ago, doing the same thing. I just pulled the couch over them.:D

Wow, does this work? I have a bottle of this stuff from cleaning my chain. I was adjusting my RD and have tire marks on a spot on my carpet where I set the bike down with the wheel still spinning. :X

Wheel_Motion 09-04-08 11:07 AM

At my job we use tennis balls on a stick to remove rubber scuff marks from kid's shoes, it may work.

ItoDoeblin 09-04-08 11:16 AM

The tennis ball on a stick is an amazing mental image....I don't know where you work, but I'm really digging this picture I have in my brain of an army of people in gray jumpsuits scrubbing a marble floor the size of a small country with tennis balls on sticks... synchronized...

If all else fails try lacquer thinner or marine spirits. That'll take paint off too tho--and it kills brain cells really fast.

Yep. I've used Simple Green many times to get grease off my carpet.

climbhoser 09-05-08 08:24 AM

Simple Green might be best for the carpet, but mineral spirits will dissolve that tire black on the tile for sure.

I know it's not "eco-PC" but I use mineral spirits to clean my chain, too...leaves it sparkly every time!

I work at my local elementary school as a custodian..

littlewaywelt 09-09-08 08:00 AM

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
It removes nearly anything.

neilfein 09-09-08 08:05 AM

Try baby wipes. They get grease off almost everything, including metal, skin, and cloth; they might work on tile.

this plus goo gone

if that doesnt work use brake cleaner

if that doesnt work use acetone

if that doesnt work repeat all of the above with steel wool

magic erasers are actually as hard a glass and are made up of mostly air, they do a great job of scraping stuff off
