Bikes: Trek 1000, two mtbs and working on a fixie for commuting.

Unfortunately for me, I did the same and was unable to get it out. However, mine was because I tried see if I can spin at 200 rpms on my rollers and fell off so it is very very bad.

Good luck to you.

Maybe a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser? That worked to get the top layer off for me. It works by very fine abrasion.

What is the problem.. Test your wife's patience when you get a little spot of chain oil grit on the carpet.

At my job we use tennis balls on a stick to remove rubber scuff marks from kid's shoes, it may work.

The tennis ball on a stick is an amazing mental image....I don't know where you work, but I'm really digging this picture I have in my brain of an army of people in gray jumpsuits scrubbing a marble floor the size of a small country with tennis balls on sticks... synchronized...

If all else fails try lacquer thinner or marine spirits. That'll take paint off too tho--and it kills brain cells really fast.

Yep. I've used Simple Green many times to get grease off my carpet.

Simple Green might be best for the carpet, but mineral spirits will dissolve that tire black on the tile for sure.

I know it's not "eco-PC" but I use mineral spirits to clean my chain, too...leaves it sparkly every time!

Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

Try baby wipes. They get grease off almost everything, including metal, skin, and cloth; they might work on tile.
