2009 Surly CC and LHT specs?

I saw a few pics of the new colors--looks like a creamy LHT and a rootbeer brown CC. I know the prices are going up by $120 or so. Any idea if the equipment specs have changed?

$120, is that for the complete version? If not, what about the frame?

According to my LBS, the 2009 Cross Check gets an upgrade to a stainless steel seatpost clamp. That's the only difference.

Huh, popular color. The new revision of the Trek 520 is root beer.

They already went up in price. It's MSRP $1000 now, I think it was around $900 in June when I bought mine. And it's still showing the 2008 frame in primer grey.

I wonder if they got the idea for a creme color from the fellow BFer with his beautiful creme LHT?

The CC looks more orange than rootbeer to me, tough to say from the picture though. LHT definitely on the tan side:

I don't know about the framesets, but the CC and LHT compete are priced at $1050 and $1095 respectively.

Where are these pictures from? I thought we wouldn't know the new colors until Interbike on the 24th.

You can click the picture to its source. Apparently there were euro and Canadian shows that these have been trotted around to before the US interbike thingy.

Ooh. So the Steamroller is going to be white now. I'm not that huge a fan of white bikes but it beats the previous brownish maroon, which one savvy observer in the SS/FG forum characterized as "bloody stool."

It's to match riders' belts.

Are they still going to have the CC in black? If not, I'm really glad I got mine when I did... and not just because it was less expensive.

I like the maroon steamroller, hope it doesn't go away. Putting one of those together is actually within my foreseeable budget horizon.

I suspect the reason the good folks at Surly pick the colors the way they do is to insure that people don't hang their bikes over their mantle-place! I can almost hear them say, in chorus, "Just ride the hell outta the damn bike"!

I love how their web site says, "We don't conduct market research, run focus groups, or particularly worry about what colors are hot, acceptable, or otherwise sexy. If you have an opinion about what our colors should be, that's great. Write it in your journal next to some hearts and ponies." If I hadn't already bought a Surly that would've cinched it for me.

That's why they don't make as much money as some other bicycle manufacturers. Pretty silly if you ask me.

I don't think they're really trying to make as much money as the other manufacturers. I think they're mainly doing all they can to be a niche provider of well-built STEEL bikes and frames most people don't want (They don't sell full-suspension MTB's, or hardcore road-racing bikes). So... yeah. Sure, they might not be known worldwide for supporting one of the best TDF riders ever, and I don't think they really care either.
Anyways...
I think a cream colored LHT would AWESOME. I Love the Olive and Blue of this year, and especially the Maroon of the previous year, but, Cream is almost exactly what I'd want in one, because putting parts to color match with the frame on that won't be hard at all (my girlfriend cares).

^^That's the beautiful creme LHT i was talking about! If only the good folks at Surly would have gone with something like that.

Then again, perhaps a paint job like that would have been a rip-off... That *is* one nice looking bike

Do you have a build sheet for this bike? I swear that's the LHT I've been dreaming of building. I'd really like to know about the racks and bags.
