Go to the auto shop, get that stuff they use in engines and spray down the seat and head tubes liberally so it gets in the down and top tubes. If the bb shell has a hole in it, the excess should drip out.

You wouldn't happen to have a product name would you? I am a gearhead too, but no so much that I rebuild engines. Are you talking about assembly lube?

I'm no gearhead, but take a walk down the aisle of the local auto parts store and you're bound to find something that protects against rust and corrosion. Something like this:

I take it then that your route is as flat as a pancake?

A singlespeed would never do here in the Mountain State, which has that name for a good reason.

Pretty much. I have about 200 feet of vertical elevation change over my 30 mile commute (when I take the long way). When I take light rail, I only have to cross 2 highway overpasses which probably equates to what, maybe 50 vertical feet?
