And then he asked me how far I had been bicycling. We ended up having a nice chat and he ended up wishing me luck and driving off. It was a nice change from the usual harassment. I was already bracing myself for him to throw something at me or spit at me or at least cuss me out. I was mentally preparing to memorize his license plate number so I could call the cops(which I have done before). This just goes to show that not all overtly wealthy SUV drivers are jackasses. Just most of them here in Alabama.

Two years ago on the Tour de Cure 44 miler, a guy in a beater pick-up pulled up next to us at a stop sign. We braced for the worst, but were greeted with "How far you guys goin'?" "45 miles? Dang, have fun. I won't even drive that far."
