Bikes: See my sig...

I forgot one of my regular commuters... which also happens to be a fixed gear.

It also serves as a backup when sciatica makes it hard to swing a leg over a standard sized bike and it gives up nothing to it's big brothers and sisters in the performance department.

The last time I planned on taking him to work he had a a flat so it was one of those moments I was glad to have had a few spare bikes to choose from.

What is that in your front basket? First thing I noticed was that the rubbish (or whatever it is) looks kind of like a cartoon skull. Anyone else notice that?

Hi neighbor,

I'm interested in the handlebars on that commuter-ized mountain bike in the middle of your 3 bikes -- what are they?

And, what kind of bike is that?

I'm converting a Stumpjumper for commuting/touring and still not sure about the handlebars (I have trekking bars on order...).

All the other rides are great, too. Lot's of taste and brainpower revealed in this thread. Humbled. Truly humbled.
It's only taken 27 bikes to get to these four

Bikes: Windsor Fens, Giant Seek 0 (2014, Alfine 8 + discs)

Don't have one, really, though there are several bikes hanging around that I could ride, none of them are really equipped, they're family member's noodlin' around bikes, no lights, etc.

The only time I've ever had something break on my bike that I couldn't fix in time to ride was a couple of weeks ago when I broke an axle. Then I transferred all my stuff (fenders/racks/etc) to my wife's bike for 3 days while the new wheel came in, then moved everything back.

I could have just driven my car though. Did, for one day.

That's good, because I post it a lot. I say it's my backup commuter, but I try to ride it whenever I know I won't need to carry a lot of things after work.

I'd like to point out some finer points:
Selle Italia Saddle
Bazooka Straight Bar
Deore Levers
Ultegra front brake pads
Red Hub Hair on front and rear hubs.

EDIT: Oh Oh it's a single speed so it must be hip too

I agree.

A couple of guys at work seemed to be horrified when I came in on my new (used) cruiser.

They seemed to think it was a "girl's" bike because of the sloping top tube, and when I rang the Mickey Mouse bell, their jaws dropped.

I just laughed and said I'm thinking about adding pink streamers on it.

It also doubles as a helmet cover for aerodynamics.
Now you've given me a third use for it.

Right now, I guess I just have the main bike- the Nishiki XRS Sport hybrid. I also have a Nishiki Olympic 12 that I had been using, but it has a bent frame and a bad tire right now, so that's out of service at present. Then there's my '66 Raleigh DL-1 Tourist, "The Old Gentleman," that I got last week. It's close to roadworthy but not really setup for commuting. I plan to add a rack on the back and a basket up front to make it a grocery-getter, but until I do I guess my main backup is my car.

I too, have a revolving stable of 7 bikes, 6 of which see some commuting duty. Each one's different, fixie/ss, cross, MTB, vintage, touring, old carbon, and modernized steel. The fixie/ss doesn't see duty often because it requires a lot of energy; the MTB is miserable for commuting. Some have fenders and some have panniers, and a couple are pure racing bikes. I need to update some of these pics & get one of the MTB. The Grand Record (Chuck) is being set up now to replace the Alan Shorter (Pumpkin).

Bikes: like 15. my favorite a 1951 schwinn spitfire cruiser. also have a 1959 amf roadmaster, 1962 jch deluxe cruiser among others.

yeah, i do the "fleet thing' too. have 4, but just kinda ride whatever i'm in the mood for when i wake up to go to work. pretty flat for my commute, so i have 3 cruisers (a single spd, a 3spd and a 5speed) and a cheap full-suspension bike my wife got me one day. my comute is realativly simple, but o do it on bike everday. if snow gets too deep, then i'll drive my truck. plows here don't run at 4am.
