Internal Geared Chainring (or how stupid can marketers be)
It appears they are only interested in marketing this to the MTB crowd, because there is no reason a commuter would ever use it.

Could that be the worst web design ever?

Alright, flame away at my ignorance - what is so bad about this design?
EDIT: Nevermind, you're just pointing out that their marketing people missed out advertising to a major market segment.

you'll need an ISCG equipped frame or an ISCG adapter for frames that don't have it.

Looks to me like it has a smaller range of gearing, and likely will cost a fair amount more. The only real advantage is that it will give greater ground clearance, which is an advantage for mountain biking but not for commuting.
With that in mind, it makes sense that they would concentrate the marketing towards freeride and mountain biking.

I really hate websites that only offer their content through video.
On the other hand, that is pretty cool tech. Wonder what it weighs?
As to the mtb specific marketing, they are obviously focused on the market with the best rate of return. How many $5K commuter rigs have you seen lately?

I haven't seen hybrids, touring, CX or folding bikes equipped with ISCG mounts so they'll need an adapter plate at the very least.

I don't understand what this does. Videos come up, but I don't watch that.
What does it do?
I really can't find that information quickly. Useless web site.

Internal gear cranks that I've heard of:
Schlumpf drive
Nicolai B-Boxx
Truvativ Hammerschmidt
Any other alternatives?
edit: just worked out that the Hammerschmidt site is called "magic mechanics"
and the Nicolai B-boxx isn't available yet

It's so bad, it makes me doubt they can actually make the thing they're trying to sell.

Think of it as an internal hub, but for your crankset. Great idea IMO, I can't wait for it, along with reasonably light and not too expensive internal hubs to become mainstream. This with an Alfine style hub could make an awesome all weather drivetrainw ith enough geraing range to haul loads and tour.
It's marketed at mountain bikers first because people like to spend a lot of money on longish travel rigs. I wouldn't put a component that expensive on a dedicated commuter, personaly.

its designed for the dh crowd where on a full on dh rig its really easy to bounce the chain off anything but a single chainring where you can use a chain tensioner.
it basically gives you a double chainring gear range but allows the use of a tensioner.
defintally not designed for the commuter crowd, sram makes this and they also make a few internally geared rear hubs that make alot more sense for a commuter.

It's designed for mountain bikers who run a granny/middle ring set up with a bashring. It is a planetary gear. Supposing this works as claimed and catches on I think it's ingenious. Anything that eliminates the finicky set up of a derailleur/chain/chainring is great. Another great advantage is for bikes with lower bottom brackets, it gives more clearance.
The planetary gear gives the rider an approximate 24-36 ring setup, depending on the gear set ups. Might not be applicable for a commuter at the moment, but take some weight off and you're increasing your gearing options. Now you can have a 16 speed Alfine set up as someone mentioned before.
And about the site...Click the links on the top to gather the appropriate info you want...pretty easy. And it's out there looking for the correct market, I like it.

ah, I was looking around for the gearing range, but couldn't find it.
found every other info I needed however.
24/36 is plenty good, assuming one doesn't have massive hills to pedal down.

That is definitely one of the worst designs ever. All flash immediately = crap. Add to that the fact that they're practically intentionally hiding what they are trying to sell, and there's way more crud than product. I gave up before I found any specs or product info.

This would totally rock when paired to an IGH.
I think I'm actually going to look into this as an upgrade for my Otis.
