I ordered this one but seems to hamper breathing.

My face, hands, and feet are the first things that get cold. Core is always warm. Sometimes I really think the ideal winter clothes are face mask, mittens, moon boots, and shorts and t-shirt.
That said, I've tried a zillion masks from snowboarding over the years. The best combo I've found so far are the Under Armor Cold Gear Hood, and the Seirus Combo Clava. On super cold days I wear both. But my face gets cld really easy, and I am prolly the first to rock a mask in the fall, and the last ditch one in the spring. On warmer days you can mix and match them on the conditions (they are a little different in thicknesses).
And if you feel like being punk, you can rock one these. Actually quite warm.

I went to a balaclava - a more lightweight one - got it in an outdoor shop in Canada <$20. And wished I had it on yesterday when the sky spat out these hard pieces of icey snow that like pinpricks on my face.

I've been using a thin wool scarf wrapped around my neck and face. This works great, and until I have a better reason to get a balaclava or face mask it'll be my everyday mask. Does anyone else wear a scarf?

In 20f-30f you're going to have to cover your whole head. Get a balaclava. I like cheap, thin ones that you don't sweat in. https://www.sierratradingpost.com/Pro...f=AffinitySale
