FWIW- after my own impromptu hotwater test last night, I may keep the stainless Oxo, link here: http://www.google.com/products?q=Oxo...&hl=en&show=dd

But the Target version of the Contigo Extreme was definitely inferior at keeping things hot- after a few minutes the stainless steel exterior got warm, then semi hot, and after 2 hrs, water was definitely cooler in the Contigo than the Oxo. And be warned that the Oxo is good, but not up to honest-to-goodness thermos bottle heat retention. So the Contigo goes back next time I go to the big city. Right now I'd call it about 85% that I'll keep the Oxo.

I may get a Thermos-Nissan Stainless "Backpack Bottle" instead- it seems to have a good combination of thermos bottle & travel mug characteristics, & almost everyone who owns one seems to love it. Link: http://www.amazon.com/Therrmos-Nissa...4742717&sr=8-1

I only need it to stay hot for 15 minutes! :D

15 minutes? Heck, in that case, anything'll do! :thumb:

I'm sure no mug expert- for about 10 yrs or so I used a pair of cheap plastic travel mugs, $1.99 each, from K-Mart I think.:D Put 'em in the dishwasher, used 'em a lot, happy in my ignorance,;) & about a year ago one of 'em finally sprang a bad leak. Tossed it, kept the lid for a spare for the other, then left the "good" one at someones house last April or May, haven't been able to get together & remember it at the same time. :bang:My 3rd mug, only on I have until I get the old KM mug back, is another cheapie, no vacuum or stainless steel- but it's almost impossible to drink from, the "hatch latch" keeps sliding partly closed. So I finally decided to get myself a good one for a change, did some internet serching & came up with 3 that stood out & came up time & time again: Thermos-Nissan, Contigo Extreme, & with a smaller fan club, the Oxo. There are others(especially some foreign-sounding hyphenated name I can't remember right now), but those should do. Thermos-Nissan has a big selection of mugs, tumblers, & bottles, Contigo a smaller selction, Oxo just seems to have the plastic & stainless mugs.

i refuse to ever go into a wal-mart, target imo is so much better, cleaner, nicer, etc. i'll have to check out those thermals, don't need them right now but they might come in handy for those few chilly mornings we'll have here in FL, lookin forward to one day living somewhere with cooler weather :notamused:
