Target had their performance thermals (men's anyway) on sale for $8, they are the ones with wicking and antibacterial. Used them today...nice!

And they have their battery operated Xmas LED lights in...saw white and multi-color $6.99

Good to know, but, sadly, we lack a Target around here. Luckily I have a set of REI thermals at home that I bought out in California before heading up to Sequoia National Park a few years ago. Comfy cozy they are. Now, just a add a couple pair of Smartwool socks.

I picked up my second bike from Target online. If I could do it over again, I'd have bought this bike from the start instead of my more expensive LBS bike.

I was in Target a caouple weeks ago and saw a small strobe light in the .99 cent section when you first walk in. I thought about mounting it to mt seat facing rear ward. Not sure if that would be good or bad!

Target is the best source for cheap stuff that can be used on the bike (wicking shirts mainly), I'll have to check out the one(s) in my area.

op are your talking about the C9 champion wicking clothing? those things kept me cool all summer long and they are dirt cheap.

I'd call them mid-weight. It was 28 degrees this morning with a wind chill to 20 and I had them on, my jersey and a windbreaker and was quite comfortable.

It was a sale sign on the display, I think those go up only if the sale was in the Sunday ad, so I'll assume national or maybe at the least regional.

The brand on them was Merona.

At my local Target they also had the Delta Michelangelo bike rack on clearance for $19.88 and the other two types (can't remember the name) on clearance also. I was tempted to pick one up, but I already have a bike stand.

Speaking of Target: If you need a good travel mug for your coffee, Target has the Contigo Extreme and Oxo Liqui-Seal, both in stainless steel, marked down from $20 to $17 this week. The Stainless Oxo is definitely vacuum insulated, it's gonna be a keeper I think. The Contigo may be foam insulated instead of vacuum- I'm testing it right now with hot water. If it turns out to be the foam version, back it goes. No Costco stores here so that's not a local option for the Contigo, I may have to order direct to get one of the good ones. Will know for sure in a few hours.

If those are the same as last year, they run off of disposable 'watch' batteries, which makes them a lot less of a deal.

Thanks for the tip. I picked up the thermals and lights last night. I probably won't use either until November but it's good to take advantage of the sale.

I haven't been to Target since Jan of 04 when they wouldn't let me exchange a crapload of duplicated wedding gifts because of their jacked up gift registry system and poor customer service. Can you believe it? You send them business by using their gift registry, they proceed to let people buy duplicated items and then hard line you when you try to exchange them. Exchange! Not cash, just exchange for different merchandise. I had never been treated so poorly and gave up on them forever.

So I've been freezing my a** off in the winters for the last 5 years, but I've made butt loads of toast with my 7 toasters.

Target is of the Devil, so is Wally world.

The stitching came loose on both of my shirts, but I've been really pleased with them overall.

I saw solar powered Christmas lights at Target last SUnday. I think it was 7.5 ft long. Neat idea. If there's still around tomorrow, I plan on getting a box for the bike.

I also saw those. Very cool! I would have to park my bike outside though and I normally park it under an over hang at work.

slloth-semi-close, those are the plastic versions, "thermal insulation", not vacuum. They had lots of those at evil Target too, normal price $9.99, sale price $8.50. The stainless version is vacuum insulated, seems fairly rugged, same size & capacity, & keeps things hot or cold a lot longer.

But the Target version of the Contigo Extreme was definitely inferior at keeping things hot- after a few minutes the stainless steel exterior got warm, then semi hot, and after 2 hrs, water was definitely cooler in the Contigo than the Oxo. And be warned that the Oxo is good, but not up to honest-to-goodness thermos bottle heat retention. So the Contigo goes back next time I go to the big city. Right now I'd call it about 85% that I'll keep the Oxo.
