Looking for inexpensive base layers
Money's tight, and the air has a bite. (I'm in Maine until the new year)
I basically have two sets of thermals/base layers, and would prefer not to have to do laundry every other day. Normally I buy my gear like this at places like EMS, REI, etc, but with a very limited cash flow I think I would sacrifice durability for a cheaper price right now. Also, I would love to find cheap cycling/running tights!
Any store/website recommendations for affordable duds? (Women's clothes preferred...

And Performance Bike has decent tights that go on sale regularly. If you get on their mailing list they send you a 10% off coupon about every 2 months or so.

Dicks has clearance sales right now. I picked up a couple of great poly shirts last night for $15 ea. Very similar ones I got a EMS a month ago where $35. Ski outlets having sales too. Get some under armor for 1st layer.

As for all the C9 mentions, I already have some shorts/tanks from Target, but I was hoping for even cheaper, if that even is possible. (My husband and I are in 2 states right now, and in order for me to be able to move at the end of the year, I am on a serious spending diet!!

I am a convert to wool shirts. Costs more, but smells a LOT less. Watching sites like steepandcheap.com and outdoordaily.com is pretty much the only way I know of to get them "cheap".

I've been using Patagonia for years for running, climbing, and cycling. They aren't cheap, but the ones I own have lasted for years.
Just wondering how long the Champions last.

Lately I have been picking mine up from Kohls. Adidas compression shirt for $20.
It appears that there are a few Kohls in Maine.
The champion stuff works well also. I have a few of their items and they have lasted years.

Also, for cheap tights, check out REI Outlet once in as while. I found my tights 50% off there. Something they had discontinued.

Actually, some of it that I have bought has held up as well as the UnderArmour I was buying for hockey. I played (now have a 3-month old) 4-5 times a week, so my stuff got washed a LOT.

Military Surplus, you can find stuff that is brand new never issues for CHEAP. I use it a lot for my camping gear. I will probably do the same, they have really really good cold weather gear.

I have heard how great wool is -- it's warm, doesn't get wet like cotton, and doesn't get smelly like synthetics. I followed a suggestion and looked at a thrift store today for Merino (non-itchy) wool sweaters and found a good one for $5.80. I might even try using it as my base layer instead of my Champion polyester from Target.

Costco has a brand called Paradox. Shirts and pants (tights) for $20.00 each. I wore the tights the other day over my bike shorts, and they were good on a morning that was in the mid 20's.

Walmart has the cheapest (new) stuff along these lines. Target comes in second. Yes, I'm prepared for the flames to totally engulf me, but somebody had to say the truth.

one of the things I found that has been great are these long sleeve shirts made with wool and poly. I have ben very flexible as far as temps and I can wear them when off the bike and not roast too much they don't stink like pure poly can.
been trying to find more but I can't find them.
